The collection of inspiring stories was gathered as part of the need to include real life accounts of this historical event in the educational product modules.

“Collecting the stories of survivors of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution and their family testimonials is a key part of the Lauer Learning historical website. These amazing stories will be used in the content of the company's innovative multimedia learning products that are aimed at teaching kids about foreign languages, cultures and historic events,” according to Lauer Rice. “Our goal is to help complete the picture of this amazing event by passing on not only the stories but also the very spirit of the Revolution of 1956 to future generations. This will ensure that the heroes of 1956 and the suffering of a nation will never be forgotten. For many Hungarians who witnessed the events of 1956, the Revolution had a lasting influence on their lives. Second generation Hungarians, hearing their family's stories of heroism, have also been deeply inspired.”

According to Lauer Rice, who also serves on the Executive Committee of the Hungarian American Coalition, “It is our intention to compile as many personal accounts as possible, to feature these stories on the website and to eventually publish a selection of stories for the 50th anniversary.

Lauer Learning and the Coalition will continue to collect inspiring stories about the 1956 Revolution through the 'FreedomFighter56' website.
