Lauer Learning, An Innovative Experiential Learning Firm, Announces Its Launch
Multimedia Educational Firm to Focus on Language, Culture and History Learning Tools
Roswell, GA - February 1, 2005 - Lauer Learning, a pioneering multimedia educational company that creates interactive products to teach children about foreign languages, cultures and historic events, announced its launch today. The company plans to create entertaining and innovative multimedia products to teach kids about foreign languages, cultures and historic events.
We are excited about launching this new company and being in the forefront of the trend to teach children of all ages through technology -- the medium that they are most comfortable using. said Andrea Lauer Rice, the founder and chief executive officer of Lauer Learning. Young people today are technologically engaged at an early age. They can interact with and manipulate all types of technology with ease and comfort. Lauer Learning is dedicated to making learning fun, memorable, and experiential by using technology to teach kids at the intersection of entertainment and education.
The first wave of products will include FF56! an immersion role-playing computer game about the Hungarian Revolution of 1956, which allows teens to travel back in time and experience the events of the revolution seemingly firsthand. By combining new technology and proven educational approaches with exciting game play and compelling stories, this historically accurate computer game will give players the opportunity to interact with historic figures firsthand, view video footage, hear radio broadcasts and speeches and read newspapers from that time. Players will become immersed in the game and the events as they unfold and learn covertly through this novel teaching approach. FF56! will be released in the fall of 2006, in time for the 50th anniversary of this historic revolution. .
The second product category, Language Learning Packets, exposes infants and toddlers to foreign languages and cultural references through bilingual books, interactive DVDs and language flashcards. As toddlers progress in their language development, they advance to the next set of interlinked and interactive resources to learn more. Kis Majom or Little Monkey, the first Hungarian Language Learning Packet will be available in time for Christmas 2006.
According to Lauer Rice, the company philosophy is that learning must be engaging so that kids of all ages and levels want to learn. These innovative approaches to learning are not only fun, they are crucial and effective ways to reach the new generation of media savvy children raised on the Internet, she said. Today's toddlers are able to fully
personalize and control their media experiences by playing online games, using Tivo and iPods, customizing their screen savers and ring tones
and whatever technological toy or tool may come next.
Lauer Rice has been working in the e-learning industry for many years. As global marketing manager of IBM's Learning Services she authored a white paper entitled, "The Evolution of e-Learning to Include Gaming and Simulations" which enabled her to work in the educational gaming market. Lauer Rice also spent time in Central and Eastern Europe as a journalist, teacher and director the New York Times Center for Independent Journalism over the course of several years.
I understand through my experience that e-learning in its current state, has not even come close to delivering on its promise or its potential to revolutionize the way we teach and learn, she said. Learning can be as engaging and fun as playing games if they are presented in an interesting and stimulating format. Lauer Learning is dedicated to finding the right formula to effectively reach and teach children of all ages.
Lauer has seen firsthand the impact and benefits of marrying new technology with traditional approaches to journalism, business and life in general. This experience is the foundation for her interest in using technology and more specifically gaming to entertain and educate, to close the 'engagement gap' with the coming generations.
Lauer Rice recently appointed a five person Educational Advisory Board consisting of experienced and passionate educators from across the country who will work with Lauer Learning to create future educational products. Visit www.LauerLearning.com for more information.
